Eric, 1) I hae no idea what to say for your #1. After the esteemed Chris Olsen said that if the 100 were randomly mixed prior to choosing, then the systematic would then be an SRS. Still processing that one.
2) This I thionk I can handle. The times that students have been asked to do a simulation on the AP Exam, it had to be done on the Random Digit Table. Otherwise, how would readers know if their calculator simulation was done correctly? Also, by doing simulation with the RDT, I think the kids can easily transfer the idea to a simulation on the calculator because they have learned the basics. I find that if I just tell kids what keys to punch on the TI, they are concentrating on finding those keys and not on what we are really doing.

On the AP test, must the students use an SRS, or may they instead elect to use a systematic random sample by randomly selecting a first value and adding 20 to it four times to collect the remainder of the units in the sample? Is there a hazard in choosing this second method? > > 2) Simulation by table seems cumbersome and antiquated in the age of the TI-84.
